River Supply Inc., a marine supplies and life raft services company, has launched a newly designed eCommerce website (www.riversupply.com) to expand its sales beyond its friendly storefront on River Street in Savannah, GA. River Supply selected TwinEngines to design and build the B2C eCommerce website and integrate to existing back office systems and fulfillment processes.
River Supply actually began as River Services in 1973. With the success of their life raft inspection and repair station, the business added the retail operation in 1990 and became known as River Supply. Their website had become an outdated product catalog listing with little information about the company and its services. TwinEngines was selected for its lean web design approach and custom integration experience – creating value for River Supply customers and eliminating waste in the value chain.
"We envision the River Supply website to be a destination for consumers and businesses looking for quality marine and boating supplies at low prices," stated Hal Lyons, President at River Supply/River Services. Lyons hopes to increase the customer base and introduce River Supply products and services to people along the East coast and the Southeast. "Until now we've been a brick and mortar business, but our goal is to reach more people in need of our products and services online," said Lyons.
The new website features a PCI compliant shopping cart integrated with the Authorize.net credit card gateway and UPS shipping service. An easy-to-use content management system (CMS) enables River Supply to manage their SEO information, promotional offers and product information. A special product search and an advanced product sorting feature helps shoppers easily find their boating supplies. Each product page gives shoppers individual skus with prices, photos, additional product information, the related products and accessories.
By integrating the web product catalog and sales order processing with the in-house, Microsoft Dynamics GP financial system, TwinEngines created an efficient method to manage the new sales channel. Product skus are automatically updated on the web to reflect the available inventory and pricing. Customers know what they are getting and when at the time of purchase, reducing customer service issues for River Supply. In addition, all web orders automatically flow into the financial system so fulfillment processes in the warehouse remain the same for Internet, phone and store orders.
“We build eCommerce solutions that are the best fit at the best value for companies participating in the manufacturing value chain,” says Jack Burnett of TwinEngines. “Our lean web approach coupled with our years of experience integrating the web to ERP/MRP and financial systems and internal work processes, gives companies an eCommerce site that works hard 24/7, 365 days of the year, and an online sales channel that isn’t hard to manage.”
